Peralta In Hand, Tigers Eye Big Bat
Tigers president Dave Dombrowski said today that signing shortstop Jhonny Peralta to a two-year deal was as much about settling a position that has been in flux as much as it was about finding a good combination on the left side of the infield with third baseman Brandon Inge.
"When you're talking about having a shortstop that can also drive in some runs, you're talking about a guy that we think you're talking 75, 80 runs, I don't think that's looking beyond expectations with him, that's a nice combination to have," Dombrowski said in a conference call with reporters. "You can win with that combination over there.
