Several of the Detroit Lions used their day off to go to school. Specifically, Redford’s Vandenberg Elementary School.
The school was one of a handful from 5,500across the country that won a contest promoting fitness. Along with an appearance by the Lions, the school was also awarded a $10,000 prize by the NFL. The grant will go toward playground and fitness equipment at the school.
Principal Syndee Malek says the grant from the NFL will be helpful for improvements to the track field where the school can now include fitness stations.
Students got the chance to meet players like Lions safety Louis Delmas, who told them to, “stay active,” and not to get into the habit of lying around and being lazy.
