Reward Offered In Burning Of Dog In Detroit

The Michigan Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who set on a dog on fire in Detroit.

"Lady" was turned in by her owner after she found the pit bull terrier/shepherd mix on fire in her backyard on Dexter near the Lodge during the Halloween weekend.

WWJ spoke with Michele Baxter, an investigator with the Humane Society.

"This is the second dog burning that we've had in that area. The first one was back in August. That dog did not live and those suspects were arrested," Baxter said.

"And, we know that they were not involved in this particular incident as they are still incarcerated. So we're not sure if this is a copycat or what's going on with this particular case," she said.

Lady is being treated for her burns. Baxter said it's too early to tell if she'll survive.

Additional details about the Michigan Humane Society's reward may be found on its website: http://www.michiganhumane.org.
