Jackson Firm's Induction Lighting Goes To Work In Lansing
Jackson-based EverLast Induction Lighting said Monday that Crippen Auto Mall in Lansing has replaced 1,000-watt metal halide outdoor lighting with EverLast 250-watt induction fixtures.
Auto dealerships are some of the heaviest users of outdoor lighting of any business, and Crippen Auto Mall is no exception.
"We've calculated the energy savings to be right around $13,000 annually," stated Dave VanTol, energy savings consultant for Hovey Electric, a Midland electrical contractor. "The new EverLast fixtures will pay for themselves in a little more than a year, and then it's strictly savings for the dealership over the next 10-12 years."
Jeff Cripen, owner of Crippen Auto Mall, made the decision to swap out the light fixtures after getting that analysis from Hovey.
With a virtually maintenance free 100,000 hour lamp life rating, EverLast Induction shoe box fixtures can last up to 15 years without needing a lamp replacement.
"One of the deciding factors in choosing EverLast induction technology was the lack of maintenance needed," VanTol said. "The new lamps will last at least five times longer than the previous metal halides."
EverLast induction fixtures utilize a 5,000-degree-Kelvin color temperature lamp with a high CRI (color rendering index), making objects and colors appear more vivid, which is a necessity for dealership owners who are trying to promote their products.
"The light distribution produced by the new fixtures is great. There are four fixtures mounted to each 25' pole and we've got them tilted at a 45 degree angle to better highlight the dealership's inventory," VanTol said. "Mr. Crippen and his sales staff couldn't be happier with the lights."
EverLast induction fixtures have been installed by car dealerships throughout the United States, notably Mount Kisco Volvo, Volvo of Danbury, and Palisades Volkswagen, all in New York, and Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights.
"Hovey Electric is utilizing the Crippen project to show other dealership owners how to keep more of their profits by showing them that there are better options to 400-watt and 1,000-watt metal halide lighting," VanTol said.
