Ann Arbor-based Midwest Eye-Banks, an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of sight, has partnered with Online Tech to host their Software-as-a-Service model at Online Tech’s SAS-70 certified data centers.
By partnering with Online Tech, Midwest Eye-Banks is able to offer its core clinical application, Midwire, not only for its internal use, but also as software-as-a-service to other eye banking organizations. Midwire is a clinical database application that encompasses the business rules for eye banking.
“The fact that our SaaS application is hosted in a SAS 70 audited environment gives our external customers a great deal of confidence in the security and privacy of their data,” said Collin Ross, director of systems and facilities for Midwest Eye-Banks.
As part of their agreement, Midwest Eye-Banks uses Online Tech Michigan colocation services. Online Tech delivers HIPAA compliant hosting in its SAS 70 certified data center with all of the physical and network security features required to assure that an organization can comply with the HIPAA data privacy requirements. Additionally, Midwest Eye-Banks depends on Online Tech for its internet connectivity and offsite backup facility.
