Semi-Truck Collides With School Bus

A Port Huron school bus full of middle-school students headed on a field trip was rear-ended by a semi this morning on I-696, just east of I-75.  There were no major injuries, but some students were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

A total of three buses were on their way to Farmington Hills when the crash happened.

WWJ's Pat Sweeting spoke with Michigan State Trooper Ferman Troy, "The school buses were on their way to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the school bus stopped in rush hour traffic, there was a semi-driver who was unable to stop, although he made an effort, and slid into the back of one of the school buses."

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured just minor bumps and bruises were reported.

Both the bus and the semi truck were damaged.  The right two lanes of I-696 had been blocked, but are now reopened.
