Warren Residents Could Get Price Break On Water

The price of water and sewer service could be the same in 2011 for Warren residents.

In a city council meeting Tuesday evening, Mayor Jim Fouts says he is recommending keeping the costs about the same starting January 1st.

"It's kind of a cooperative effort between the mayor's office, the employee's union and, hopefully, the council," Fouts said. "And through all of that and through cost-cutting measures and drastic reductions in overtime, I'm happy to state that unlike many cities, I don't have to raise everybody's water rates."

The move could come even as the city will likely pay Detroit more to bring water in. The City Council meets at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren Community Center.
