Sunday Morning Liquor Sales Not Ready To Start

View Comments

drinks cbs Sunday Morning Liquor Sales Not Ready To StartSunday morning liquor sales in Michigan won’t begin until late December at the earliest. A spokeswoman for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission said Tuesday the agency will be posting applications for the $160 license needed to sell alcohol on Sunday mornings and notifying local governments about the new law this week.

Local governments will have until Dec. 15 to notify state officials if they opt to ban Sunday morning sales.

The new law will allow Sunday alcohol sales starting at 7 a.m. Previous law bans liquor sales from 2 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Lawmakers in November passed a bill that technically takes effect Dec. 1. But liquor control officials still are working to implement the new law.

Like we really need the drunks to get their alcohol before noon on Sunday. Like everything else that makes sense, this old law will be done away with by lawmakers who couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag. Our society is in a downward spiral right now and changes like this aren’t for the betterment of our society.
