Why Is Soccer Considered A Wimpy Sport?

I am not a big soccer fan. I watch mostly because my children Celine and Brandon love to play.
But now I have figured out why soccer is not bigger in this country. I now know why the United States is a player in the world in soccer but not a major player.
Celine is a good soccer player, but she is one of the most incredible athletes I've ever seen at her age. She could be a point guard in basketball, a setter in volleyball and a sprinter in track and field. Her burst on the field for her size and age (11 years old) is pretty incredible.
Other parents notice also and I cannot tell you how many parents ask me do I really want her playing soccer? I tell them she loves playing with her team and I let her decide what she wants to play. She has a growing interest in basketball but soccer is her first love for now.
This one guy huddled up next to me during her last indoor game.
"Are you sure you want her doing this," he asked. "Is she getting anything out of this?"
I explain that she loves the sport and loves helping her team.
"I don't think this is the sport for her," he said. "She should play basketball."
Meanwhle she scored two goals in the game helping her team win 2-0.
Our best athletes are in the NFL and the NBA and I wonder how many of them played soccer and were told to switch out. Soccer is considered too wimpy or not athletic enough. I do respect soccer players as athletes. For them to play 90 minutes virtually non stop is impressive.
So why do we consider soccer players non athletes in this country?
Why do we want to send the athletes to other sports?
