Inforum to host a peek at Detroit's future: IN4M After Hours, a networking event sponsored by the Inforum economic club, will take a look at the Detroit of the future through the eyes of the Detroit Works Project Jan. 19. The Detroit Works Project, described as "evolving roadmap," intended to make Detroit work better by creating a shared, achievable vision of the city's future. Its goal is nothing less than re-engineering the entire footprint of Michigan's largest city. The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Ave., and will feature host Karla Henderson, appointed by Mayor Dave Bing as the group executive of planning and facilities last Aug. 2. She oversees the Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department, the Building Authority, the Planning and Development Department, the Mayor's "Detroit Works" project and the Bing 10,000 Demolition Program. Tickets for the event are $29 for Inforum members and $39 for nonmembers. Tickets include light hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. Parking is an additional $3. Stiennon out with new book on cyberwar: Michigan-based IT security guru Richard Stiennon will host a book launch event for his latest book, "Surviving Cyberwar," on Thursday, Dec. 16 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Stiennon will be presenting on the context of his bok, including recent events including Google Aurora, Stuxnet, and the cyber riots surrounding Wikileaks.
