AFSCME President Concerned About Cuts

Wayne County Commissioners decided Thursday to let the 2011 Board of Commissioner decide if County Executive Bob Ficano has authority to impose 20%  pay cuts on union employees.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton spoke with AFSCME's Albert Garrett about the reality of the pay reduction set to take effect this week.

AFSCME Council 25 president Albert Garrett is concerned about the effect of the pay cut to workers, "they postponed addressing the issue until the new folks come in, meanwhile the workers who are making 25-30 thousand dollars are suffering these 20-percent pay cuts in wages, right now, so yes, it is quite disappointing."

Ficano has said that all workers must sacrifice due to the county's budget deficit.
