Jury Convicts 18-Year Old In Matt Landry Murder Case

A Macomb County jury took less than a day to convict an 18-year old Detroit man in the kidnapping and death of Matthew Landry of Chesterfield Township.

Prosecutors say Robert Taylor held Landry hostage, not long after Landry was kidnapped from a Quiznos Sub Shop in Eastpointe in August, 2009. Landry was later found dead in an abandoned east side Detroit home.

Taylor's co-conspirator, Ihab Maslamani, was convicted earlier this year on felony murder, kidnapping, carjacking and conspiracy charges. Maslamani is serving a life sentence in prison, without the possibility of parole.

Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith told WWJ, "It certainly doesn't bring closure to Matt Landry's family. But it's one less thing the family has to worry about. They never have to worry about Ihab Maslamani, and they never have to worry about Taylor again."
