Police say a 28-year-old Michigan man being sought in the disappearance of his 3-year-old daughter has been found and the child is safe.

Police made the announcement Tuesday evening in a statement, canceling an Amber Alert for Amaya Marie Pernell.

   The statement says the “suspect was located” and the child was “recovered safely.” A message seeking more information was left with police.

Police earlier said that Lester Pernell may have traveled earlier in the day to Atlanta. Police said Pernell also has ties to the Raleigh, N.C. area.

Amaya was taken Monday night from her mother’s home in East Lansing.
