A 3-year-old East Lansing girl is safely back home with her mother, while her father is jailed on $500,000 bond on kidnapping and other charges.

East Lansing police Capt. Tom Johnstone said officers arrested 28-year-old Lester Pernell at a relative’s home in Detroit Tuesday night where they found Amaya Pernell unharmed.

Johnstone said the arrest was made without a struggle.

Police say Pernell assaulted his daughter’s mother before he abducted the girl Monday night. An Amber Alert was issued for Amaya, and the FBI helped East Lansing Police  in their search.

Lester Pernell was arraigned Wednesday on kidnapping, home invasion and domestic violence charges and ordered jailed on $500,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
