Cleaning Up After Furniture Store Explosion
Two days after an explosion rocked the city of Wayne, things are slowly returning to normal.
WWJ’s Mike Campbell reports many stores nearby what was Franks Furniture Store are reopening Friday as the debris from the blast has been cleaned up.
Wayne Road reopened to traffic early Friday morning.
The owner of Franks, Paul Frank, remains hospitalized at the University of Michigan Medical Center burn unit.
WWJ reporters along with the Associated Press and Wayne resident Mike Gier took several photos of the damage done as a result of the explosion at Franks Furniture Store in Wayne.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause.
The Wayne Chamber of Commerce has created a fund to help families affected by the explosion. Donations can be sent to the William C. Franks Disaster Fund in care of Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union, 500 S. Wayne Road, Westland MI 48186.
