Deadly Accidents Claim 2 Lives

An accident in Southfield caused a stretch of Telegraph Road to remain closed for several hours Sunday night/Monday morning.

WWJ's Ron Dewey reports from the scene that a car-pedestrian accident took place just before midnight along southbound Telegraph Road between Warner and Nine Mile Road.

A pedestrian - an unidentified woman - was reportedly walking in the left lane. The posted speed limit along that stretch of Telegraph is 50 mph. The woman was struck and killed along the area of Telegraph where there is no street lighting and visibility is limited.

More investigation is necessary, but at this point, alcohol is not seen as a factor.

Southbound Telegraph was closed to traffic for most of the overnight hours. Traffic is now being allowed to pass the crash scene on the far right lane.

Accident Downriver Leaves 1 Person Dead

There's been another deadly accident; this one in Woodhaven. An early-morning accident investigation left northbound I-75 completely shut down. Traffic was routed off the freeway at West Road.

Motorists were able to rejoin northbound I-75 from the ramps north of West Road -- from the Dix-Toledo connector or even Sibley Road.
