DPS Bus Drivers Being Laid Off

Layoffs are coming in the Detroit Public Schools. This round is hitting bus attendants who help special education and disabled students. AFSCME Local 345 says pink slips have gone out to 88 of 175 attendants.

DPS has about 15,000 special education students. About half take the bus. The district will provide attendants only to students who require one. A district spokesman says the plan will save the district $2 million.
