Search On For Escaped Inmate

Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies are on the hunt for a jail inmate who they say escaped during a doctor’s appointment at Harper Hospital in Detroit.  Officials say the man may be pretty easy to spot.

Deputies say when 45-year-old Willie Wright got away he was wearing a dark green jail uniform, and during a struggle with officers he may have taken off his shirt — leaving him clad only in green pants and leg shackles.

Authorities say Wright escaped shortly after 12 p.m. Tuesday, with deputies managing only to hit him with pepper spray on him before he ran.

Officers have been searching around the hospital and areas where Wright is known to hang out, but there’s been no sign of him so far.

Wright is in custody on charges related to Criminal Sexual Conduct, Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearms.

Police say Wright is a black male, 6.5” tall and 270 pounds. hould be considered dangerous and may be armed.  Anyone who sees him is asked to immediately contact police.
