Mom Accused Of Faking Son’s Cancer Due In Court

A Roseville woman accused of faking her son’s cancer so that she could collect money is due in court Wednesday.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Carol Schnuphase lied to everyone — including her 12-year-old son — claiming he was dying of cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Investigators say she even shaved the boys’ head and fed him opiates to make him appear ill.

After thousands of dollars were raised for the boy, a relative alerted police. Schnuphase is charged with fraud and child abuse.
