A boil water advisory has been issued for residents of Washington Township.
This alert applies to all residents and businesses located in the area bounded by 29 Mile to 30 Mile roads, and between Mound and Van Dyke roads.
Due to a drop in pressure in the township water supply, bacterial contamination may have occurred in the water system. That’s according to a release by township officials, who say a water main break at 29 Mile Road and Van Dyke Sunday night is the cause.
Officials say “corrective measures” are underway.
In the meantime, residents are asked to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and in food preparation.
The alert will remain in effect though 11:30 pm, Monday, January 10.
