Stoney's Six Pack

1. Were you as ticked off as I was to see Mike Williams catch a touchdown pass in Seattle's upset win over New Orleans? I give him credit for getting his butt in gear and returning to the league, but he was still the epitome of the Matt Millen era.

2. Seriously, I might be the master of the obvious, but can we give some recognition to the Red Wings. Datsyuk, Modano, Cleary, Filppula, and Stuart get hurt and the machine keeps churning. They are the most underappreciated team in sports.

3. I have been accused of being obsessed with the tabloidesque behavior of potential Pistons owner Tom Gores, and the accusations are correct. I am fascinated by the story that he had an ongoing affair with his brother's wife. Yes he slept with his sister in law. (Yes I did sleep in the same bed as my sister )   I am not saying this would make him a bad owner, but in many cases people who own equity companies are more interested in cost and job cutting to save money rather than putting out a great product. If Gores does buy the team, he can sleep with whomever he wants as long as he does everything in his power to return the Pistons to their glory days. If you want to learn more about Gores here is a sample, but there is tons more.

4) I will personally miss Rip Hamilton once he is traded from the Pistons. He was my favorite player from the team that made the NBA relevant again. I loved his passion, personality, and his ability to run around screens and hit jumpers almost at will. I won't miss the Hamilton from the past few years. It seems he was never the same player once Chauncey Billups was traded.

5) David Akers...I hope you have a tough time sleeping the next few months. How the hell do you miss two field goals including a 31 yard chip shot at home in a playoff game. Yes I am a ticked off Eagles fan today.

6) If Brady Hoke was an assistant at Ohio State for the years he was at Michigan would he still be a desired candidate. I am not smart enough to forecast if he would be a good hire or not, but the fact that he coached for Lloyd Carr should not carry as much weight as it obviously does.
