Suspect Sought In Woman's Severe Beating

Police are investigating a severe beating of a Utica woman.

A 60-year-old Utica woman was found with severe head, facial and body injuries after she was allegedly beaten with a fireplace poker,  a broom, a shovel and other fireplace tools. 

Police say the 18-year-old suspect then threw the woman down the basement stairs and stole her car.

Police say the woman had met suspect on Tuesday and he took her to a relative's home where the attack occurred. 

She was reported in serious condition at Beaumont Hospital in Troy where she's expected to undergo surgery for her injuries. 

Police are searching for the suspect, Jalen Kaevon Hughbanks, also known as "City Boi Red," and the stolen vehicle -- a red, 4-door, 2006 Ford Fusion with the license plate CAK-9169. 

Highbanks is described is a black male, medium to light complected, 5'8'' tall and 130 lbs.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Utica Police.
