Attempted Jewelry Heist In Sterling Hts
An attempted jewelry heist in Sterling Heights ends with one of three would-be robbers in jail, and two others on the run.
Sterling Heights Police say the trio walked into the Lucido Fine Jewelry Store near 19 Mile and Schoenherr last night, with hammers. But the attempted "smash and grab" didn't work out as they had planned. One of the would-be robbers was wrestled to the floor by a store employee, and the other two ran to an awaiting car in the parking lot.
Police described the suspects as African-American males.
The suspects didn't show any weapons, other than the hammers.
They didn't get any of the jewelry. No one was hurt. Police will be checking surveillance cameras to help identify the pair that got away.
