Mourning Continues For Murdered Novi Family

The mourning and grieving continues for two Novi children killed along with their mother over the weekend, allegedly by their father who then committed suicide.

As Thornton Creek Elementary School students returned to school Monday, a crisis team was prepared to help them cope with the deaths of their classmates Tynan and Camden Schons.

Tynan's first-grade classmates, for instance, were to devote a portion of the day to write letters to the family, if they chose.

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements for the brothers and their mother, Jennifer Woodard Schons, are set for Thursday.

Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church on Grand River in Brighton for 6-year-old Tynan and 4-year-old Camden and their mother, 38-year-old Jennifer Schons.  Their funeral is scheduled for Thursday at the church.

Police say they believe the boy's father, 39-year-old Mark Schons, killed his kids and wife in their Novi home Friday, then committed suicide in his car at a Lyon Township store parking lot. Investigators say the family's party store supply business had failed, and they had filed for bankruptcy claiming nearly $600,000 in debt. There are also reports the couple was considering divorce.
