Chrysler is planning a big celebration today at its minivan plant in Windsor. WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert will be there.

Jeff says what Chrysler will be celebrating today is the new Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Caravan minivans, refreshed from the previous models. Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne tells Jeff the company is still working on long-term updates and while the two vehicles may be similar now, they won’t be long term.

“We recognize that it’s been a very difficult management process for us to try and run two nameplates of the same architecture in the same showroom with the same dealers,” Marchionne said. “We’ve now, I think, learned other matters intelligently. But if I told you it was an easy process, I’d be lying.”

At the North American International Auto Show, Chrysler is showing off 16 revamped products.
