Detroit Extends Parking Enforcement For Auto Show

Detroit (WWJ) If you are headed down to the North American International Auto Show this weekend be careful where you park. 

The City of Detroit's Municipal Parking Department is going to extend its enforcement days and hours during the show, which runs through Sunday evening. 

The Parking Violations Bureau will be watching for illegal parking in the area bordered by Jefferson Avenue between Cobo Center and I-75 Freeway, I-75 Freeway, Third Street and Grand Circus Park.

The city will be looking for:

--Improper Parking  within 20 feet from a crosswalk, within 15 feet from an intersection or within 30 feet from a stop sign or traffic control device or within 15 feet of a fire hydrant

--Parking in a fire lane

--Parking in a no-standing zone

The city will not enforce parking meters. 

Auto show-goers are encouraged to park in any of the city's secure parking facilities in the downtown area.
