Purdue 86, Michigan State 76

DETROIT (WWJ/AP)  Draymond Green scored 21 points and Delvon Roe added 16 for the Spartans (12-7, 4-3) but it wasn't enough as the Spartans fell to the Boilermakers 86-76 in Indiana, Saturday night.

Kalin Lucas finished with nine points on 3- for-16 shooting, fouled out and was outplayed by Lewis Jackson who added a career-high 19 points for the Boilermakers (17-3, 6-1 Big Ten).

E'Twaun Moore scored 26 points, JaJuan Johnson had 20 to help No. 14 Purdue beat Michigan State.

Michigan State jumped out to a 20-16 lead before Purdue rallied. A 3-point play by Johnson and a teardrop lay-up by Jackson over two defenders gave Purdue a 24-22 lead.

Michigan State lacked the offensive drive needed to combat the big plays, including three straight lay-ups  by Purdue at one point, which energized the home crowd and fueled the Boilermakers' scoring rout.

By half-time the Spartans were down 41-31 and entered the second half sluggish.

Purdue remains one game behind No. 1 Ohio State in the conference standings heading into their showdown in Columbus on Tuesday night.

The previous meeting between the teams came late last season in Purdue's first game after Robbie Hummel tore the ACL in his right knee. Michigan State won 53-44 as Johnson and Moore combined to shoot 7 for 27 from the field. This time, Purdue's top scorers combined to shoot 16 for 31.
