Entrepreneurship Conference Coming To EMU; Michigan-based business owners will share their success with aspiring entrepreneurs as the Eastern Michigan University College of Business presents the Sesi Midwest Entrepreneurship Conference on Feb. 11 at the EMU Student Center. The conference will focus on innovation and green entrepreneurship in Michgan. The keynote speaker will be Elizabeth Redmond, founder and president of Powerleap Inc. Powerleap is a clean-tech company based in Ann Arbor that developed floor solutions that generate electricity from pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Redmond created Powerleap while at the University of Michigan and was recently featured in Forbes and The Discovery Channel. She will speak during lunch. Also scheduled to speak is Chris Kondogiani, a director of Adaptive Materials Inc., a fuel cell manufacturer recently acquired by UK-based Ultra Electronics Holdings plc. AMI will continue to develop and manufacture its propane-powered fuel cell systems at its Ann Arbor facility. All EMU faculty staff and students are invited to attend, as well as other community college and high school students and faculty that have curriculum centered on entrepreneurship or business. Networking along with a refreshments starts at 8:30 a.m. followed by opening remarks. The Skandalaris Business Plan Competition concludes after lunch as high school and university and community college students compete for cash prizes totaling more than $5,000. Break-out sessions are scheduled that also feature innovation and green entrepreneurs. The event is free but registration is required. Spectrum Health Hosts February Web Chats: Consumers can have their health questions answered through live Web chats with Spectrum Health medical specialists. Two chats are scheduled in February at www.spectrum-health.org/onlinechat. On Wednesday, Feb. 9 at noon, it's "Health and Wellness of New Moms." And on Thursday, Feb. 17 at noon, it's "Heart Failure: Treatment Options to Feel Your Best."
