Hearing For Man Charged In Livonia Cop's Death

A Detroit man appeared in court, Wednesday, facing charges connected to the death of a Livonia police officer.

The 48-year-old Terry Bowling agreed to waive his right to a speedy trial so his court-appointed lawyer could have time to review the evidence in this case.

"This is why we become lawyers, and... he has rights. He pleads not guilty to the murder charge," said defence attorney Randal Louis.

"He feels terrible, and he was not the shooter in this case -- and that's not the allegation. And, he had no weapon on him," Louis said.

The charges against Bowling include Felony Murder, Home Invasion and Resisting a Police Officer.

Terry Bowling is the brother of David Bowling, who police say shot and killed Livonia Officer Larry Nehasil during an alleged robbery in Walled Lake last week. David Bowling was also fatally shot in that exchange of gunfire.

The brothers were under police surveillance, suspected in a series of home invasions.

Bowling is being held without bond. His preliminary examination was re-scheduled for March 24.
