Gavin Edwards: Rip Hamilton Has To Go
I can't take it anymore. This entire debacle has to come to an end. I'm not blaming either side at this point. But it's come to this: the Detroit Pistons must get rid of Rip Hamilton. It's a sad realization that Hamilton has done virtually nothing to help his team this season. Sure, Rip went off for 35 points in a win over the Toronto Raptors back on December 22. But since then, Mr. Yes Sir hasn't scored more than 15 points per game, was ejected from a game against the Lakers in the first seven minutes of the game, and hasn't seen action since January 10th.
People can debate all day whether Hamilton deserves most of the blame, or if its head coach John Kuester who is most responsible for the acrimony. It doesn't matter. All that matters is getting past the tension and negative atmosphere that permeates the Pistons' locker room. And the easiest solution is to get Rip off the team. Trade him, release him, buy him out. I don't care. Only with Hamilton off the team can the Pistons truly starting healing from the damage that's been done this year.
