Local Park To Install Security Cameras
GROSSE POINTE WOODS (WWJ) - A Grosse Pointe Woods park could soon be getting security cameras. Officials plan to install the security equipment at Lake Front Park after an incident in a restroom last summer during which a 7-year-old boy said a man exposed himself and urinated on the boy's shoulder.
The Detroit Free Press reports that some restrooms at the pool house will also be converted into family changing rooms to keep parents from having to send their young children into locker rooms alone.
In addition, the City Council's Committee-Of-Whole also approved the purchase of a card swipe system for using the park, according to the paper. Currently, Grosse Pointe Woods residents show their cards to a guard to gain entry to the parks.
Officials hope to have the security cameras in place when the pools open in May.
