Responsible Partying Key To Super Game Activities

DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State police say they will not be playing games on this 'Super Bowl Sunday' as they target drunk drivers.

Here are some things police want you to know:

The state police say the alcohol should stop flowing at the end of the third quarter of the big game.  And that's not all, police say before you serve the first drink - make sure guests who drink have a designated driver.

WWJ's Jayne Bower tells us that if  you're throwing a Super Bowl bash, offer lots of non-alcoholic drinks.

If you are the guest at a party, the police suggest you program numbers for local cab companies into your cell phone, designate that sober driver, and always buckle up. It's your best defense against drunks on the road.

Other reminders; a drunk driving conviction can get you more than three months in jail, a hefty fine, 360 hours of community service and six points on your license, which will be suspended for six months.

Michigan State Police say those are the possibly penalties under the state's enhanced drunk driving law.  The police say last year on Super Bowl Sunday some 200 people were arrested for driving drunk.
