Fire Truck Tips Over In 9 Mile Crash

Minor injuries were reported after a fire truck flipped over in Warren.

The multi-vehicle wreck happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of 9 Mile Road and Sherwood.   WWJ's Alisa Zee reports the truck tipped over after it collided with another vehicle.

WWJ spoke with Sharon White, who works at White's Place, a car repair shop down the street from the crash site.  She said she heard an ear-splitting noise outside, and went outside to see a huge Chrysler tanker hitting the fire truck.

"It was horrible. You could hear this, like, implosion of metal against metal. It was horrible. We all ran," White said.

"The Chrysler trailer went across the road, buried its nose almost in the dirt. And, the front half of the tractor -- or, where the driver drives -- is gone," she said.

A power line was knocked down in the incident. DTE Energy crews were on the scene later Tuesday, working to restore power to about three dozen homes and businesses left in the dark following the accident.
