Grosse Pointe Shores Home Goes Up In Flames

-- DETROIT (WWJ) -- It took six hours and five fire departments to put out a house fire in Grosse Pointe Shores last night.

The 35-hundred square foot home went up in flames late Tuesday afternoon on Shelden Road near Lakeshore Drive.

The home sustained extensive damage, as the roof collapsed when fire fighters battled icy cold conditions and thick black smoke.

The homeowners were not there when the fire started. Fire crews did rescue "Maxwell", the family's pet Yorkshire Terrier.

Fire crews believe the fire may have started in the attic, but they won't know for sure until investigators get a closer look at the damage.
