Fundraiser for Family of Slain Livonia Police Officer

HIGHLAND (WWJ) - A fundraiser is being held to raise money for the wife and children of Livonia Police officer Larry Nehasil, who was killed in the line of duty last month.  It will be held at 59 West on M-59 in Highland with a pasta and salad buffet, a silent auction and entertainment this evening.

A spokesman for the fundraiser, Rick Daguanno,  says, "We're just hoping to raise as as much money as we can . People of southeast Michigan , I'm sure as you know, are some of the most kindest people in terms of charitable donations."

Daguanno says it's 15-dollars for adults and 10 dollars for children. The doors open at 4 p.m. for the silent auction with the dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Officer Nehasil was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a burglary suspect outside a home in Walled Lake.  The suspect, David Bowling,  was killed as well, but his brother, Terry Bowling, has been charged in the murder.
