Huggers Needed For Record Breaking Embrace

DETROIT (WWJ) Feel like a hug?  Tonight's your chance to help set a world record for the largest "group hug."  Ten thousand huggers are needed to break the Guinness World record set in 2009.  You can meet at the front entrance of Compuware at 7 p.m. Saturday to help beat the record.

It's going on during Motown Winter Blast, which spokesman Jon Witz features the return of some big things.

"Winter is alive in Detroit . Winter in Michigan is a fun thing to do and to see all the snow and festivities in an actual urban setting , ya know,  it, it's great. We've got so much of the stuff that we had during super bowl back with the dog sledding and the slide and so forth, uh, it's, it's going to be great," Witz tells WWJ.

The big slide, ice skating, and an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the largest "group hug."  Those are all part of the Motown Winter Blast being held in Campus Martius Park.

Witz says there are all sorts of other activities going on until 11 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday, including the Miejer Virtual Tour.

"You can actually go in and play Wii games for free and warm up , get your picture taken , have it e- mailed to your and access it online ..uh you can,  There's bands in heated tents as you know, great food. You can roast marshmallows, uh,  snowshoe to get exercise," Witz says.
