State Democrats Gather At Cobo Center

DETROIT (WWJ) -  The Michigan State Democratic Party Convention is being held Saturday in Detroit at Cobo Center.  After a sound beating at the polls in November, WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief  Tim Skubick does not expect this to be a dramatic affair.

Skubick says the democrats have to concede that republican Governor Rick Snyder has done some things right.

Skubick says Snyder has put together a good cabinet, but says democrats will try to take the edge off when the budget is released.

"The rubber is going to hit the road , however, on Thursday this coming week when he releases his budget where there will be crying and gnashing of teeth with all of his budget cuts and the democrats may see that as an opportunity . They believe that Snyder  basically is a little insulated from some of the pain that budget cuts produce in the environment," Skubick notes.

Skubick says Democrats not good at getting their message out on how government has already been cut.  Expect more cuts when Governor Rick Snyder releases his budget on Thursday.
