Expatriates Hope Rallies Will Continue In Other Arab Countries

DETROIT (WWJ) - With the exit of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak ,  many local Arab Americans are happy about it.  Some local Arab-Americans say they hope what's happened in Egypt will happen in other Arab countries now.

Ghada Alawie is Palestinian, but lives in Westland now and she wants to see democracy in Egypt .

Alawie thinks democracy will spread to some other Arab countries now. "

"The people need a change, either in Egypt...there's only two kind of people, either you're rich or you're poor and with the way he was running the country, it's just like he forgot about those little people, those people who couldn't afford to keep meals on the table, Alawie states. "Their police system, everything over there in that country is just completely wrong, so to finally see an end to him with a new government coming in to, hopefully in September or whenever they do elections,  will be great to see."

An Iraqi woman living in Farmington HIlls,  Nibris  Muhsin says it's a great victory for all Arabs.

"When Egypt (was) suppressed by that tyranny, it affected our future in other countries because Egypt is a great nation and now they're an example for democracy. So it's gonna affect, in a positive way, everybody all around," Muhsin says.
