Ride The Wave To The Boat Show

DETROIT (WWJ) - This weekend and next - folks can enjoy shopping or dreaming about owning one of the beautiful boats on display at the Detroit Boat Show.

Cobo Center is wall to wall with boats, fishing boats, pontoons, cabin cruisers, and wave-runners this year.

Show spokeswoman Nicki Polan says Gov. Rick Snyder and his family stopped by the event. She says he may be in the market for a boat.

"He wanted to see the show and get a good feel for the industry, it's a $3.9 billion dollar industry, so that's a pretty important thing for Michigan,"
Polan explained.

Charles Darga of White Lake was looking at pontoon boats with his wife,"Winter is terrible in Michigan and we live on a lake and we want to be in the water as much as we can," Darga says.

The Darga's will put their boat into the water April 1 and are usually the last to remove their boat from the lake.

Most going to the show say they are 'done' with snow and the show puts them in the mood for summer and just looking forward to warmer weather.

Polan says attendance is already up over last year's show. The Boat Show runs through next Sunday, February 20.
