Patent Awarded to Edcor Data Services

Troy-based Edcor, a provider of corporate tuition administration, said Monday that it had been awarded a United States patent for a new scanning verification and tracking system.

In 2006, Edcor commissioned a major re-engineering of its tools used to provide tuition administration services. During this re-engineering process, the new scanning verification and tracking system was one of several new and improved tools Edcor introduced to improve the quality, accuracy and security of its services.

"This is great accomplishment for Edcor," owner and CEO Adrienne L. Way said. "This is a revolutionary new process and no one in the industry has anything like it. It is a benefit to our clients, and further solidifies Edcor as the industry leader in tuition program administration.  Patenting a process is a difficult achievement as it is exceedingly difficult to prove an original concept."

At a high level, the Edcor claims or transaction processing system has the capability to convert a single electronic image into multiple images for review, verification, and adjudication. Another feature is the robust quality control functionality. The Edcor system has the ability to control the degree to which transactions are quality checked for each processing agent, client or a combination of both. This approach to quality verification ensures error rates are monitored closely and utilized to continuously improve quality.

U.S. Patent No. 7,869,098 is titled "Scanning Verification and Tracking System Method."
