Good Samaritans Help Victims Of Fiery Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) – A Sterling Heights couple is being called heroes after they help a family of seven escape a burning car.

Kayla Voss is an emergency room nurse at Grosse Pointe Beaumont Hospital. She and her husband, Jason, were traveling along I-94 near Harper in Detroit Monday when they came across the accident.

He pulled the female driver from the burning and vehicle and she helped a man whose arm had been amputated after he was thrown from the van.

Speaking to the media, Wednesday, Kayla Voss said it was no coincidence that she was in the right place at the right time.

“There’s no doubt, because of my faith, that God placed us in that position. Absolutely, I believe it.  I’m a Beaumont nurse, and that in itself can offer comfort to an individual who has just been in a tragic car accident,” she said.

“My responsibility, I felt, was to get out to see what the situation was and to try to help anyone who needed it, regardless of what that meant,” Voss said.

The couple has not seen or spoken to the family since but say they are hoping to reunite with them in the future.

this topic is way out of porportion to other important events and life saving measures….did they call the pressd themselfves to acknowledge themselves?
How ridiculous all this really is….there are so many people that save lives and do good every day and are never recognized…where are the rest of the people that helped in the crash? How come they are not recognized? Didnt they call the press or bring attention to themselves? this is disgusting…..

I AGREE….A PRESS CONFERENCE AND ALL THIS PUBLICITY ? IT IS LIKE EXPLOITATION OF THE PRESS AND THE PUBLIC. TO ME, THE REAL HEROS ARE THOSE THAT ARE NOT ON T.V. AND DON’T ALLOW THEMSELVES ALL THIS ATTENTION. MOST PEOPLE WOULD HAVE STOPPED. IT IS NOT AN ACT OF GOD, BUT AN ACT OF HUMAN KINDNESS….AND IT IS NOT ABOUT THE RECOGNITION, BUT THE FEELING THAT WAS OBTAINED FROM DOING THE GOOD DEED…GOOD DEEDS SHOULD NOT BE MENTIONED..JUST DONE.

LEAVE IT ALONE ALREADY…..IS THERE NOBODY ELSE TO INTERVIEW AND HAVE A PRESS CONFERENCE WITH OF INTEREST? REALLY, I BELIEVE THIS COUPLE CALLED THE PRESS ON THEIR OWN TO BRING THEMSELVES INTO THE LIMELIGHT. THE VICTIM DID NOT EVEN REMEMBER THE PERSON SAVING HIM….DID IT REALLY HAPPEN? WHY WOULD YOU WANT SO MUCH RECOGNITION IF YOU ARE ACTING ON GOD? TAKES ALL THE GOOD OUT OF THE ACTION. I AGREE..EXPLOITATION AND SELF RECOGNITION

WHO I BELIEVE TOO, THAT THEY MUST HAVE CALLED THE PRESS THEMSELVES TO GET THE RECOGNITION…ALL THOSE GIFTS AND STUFF SHOULD GO TO THE FAMILY THAT NEARLY DIED….THEY COULD USE IT MORE…LETS MOVE ON..PEOPEL..THIS ISNT A HUMAN INTEREST STORY, BUT A PERSONAL INTEREST STORY…..GLORY GLORY GLORY!!!!!

iF THE PRESS KNEW THE TRUE INTENTIONS AND CHARACTERS OF THESE TWO SICK INDIVIDUALS THEY WOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR THIS MEDIA MADNESS . I AM GLAD THEY GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP THESE PEOPLE, IF IT TRLY WAS DIVINE INTERVENTION THAT BROUGHT THEM TO THIS CRASH AND TO ALLOW THEM TO SEE OUTSIDE OF THEMSELVES, MY HOPE IS THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GROW AND BECOME BETTER PEOPLE BECAUSE SOME WOULD BE SUPRRISED TO KNOW THE CARNAGE THEY HAVE LEFT IN THEIR WAKE . bY THE WAY , THEY WERE BOTH MARRIED AT THE TIME OF THIS SO CALLED VALENTINE DATE.

  6. PapaBear says:

Yes, it is true that both of the “good samaritans” were married to others during their first romantic “valentine date”-how funny that the media claims they were celebrating the anniversary of their wedding. NOT TRUE! Not to take away from this collaberated act of kindness in which many others came to the rescue-but to call them heros? Maybe the Media should investigate and seek the story behind the story-much more interesting yet disturbing. The trail of destruction that these two Narcissistic glory hounds have left behind would keep you awake at night! And furthermore, I find it troubling that one of the “good samaritans” called this devine intervention when he doesn’t even believe in God. :( We should give glory and honor to those who perform these selfless, heroic acts every day and yet they do not seek out media attention for self gratification.
