Good Samaritans Help Victims Of Fiery Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Sterling Heights couple is being called heroes after they help a family of seven escape a burning car.

Kayla Voss is an emergency room nurse at Grosse Pointe Beaumont Hospital. She and her husband, Jason, were traveling along I-94 near Harper in Detroit Monday when they came across the accident.

He pulled the female driver from the burning and vehicle and she helped a man whose arm had been amputated after he was thrown from the van.

Speaking to the media, Wednesday, Kayla Voss said it was no coincidence that she was in the right place at the right time.

"There's no doubt, because of my faith, that God placed us in that position. Absolutely, I believe it.  I'm a Beaumont nurse, and that in itself can offer comfort to an individual who has just been in a tragic car accident," she said.

"My responsibility, I felt, was to get out to see what the situation was and to try to help anyone who needed it, regardless of what that meant," Voss said.

The couple has not seen or spoken to the family since but say they are hoping to reunite with them in the future.
