Waveform Technology Connects More Michigan Data Centers

The Troy-based local Internet service provider Waveform Technology  announced the completion of a major expansion of its Metro Detroit fiber-optic network.

This IP based network provides connectivity to private, commercial, educational and municipal data centers located throughout Southeast Michigan.

The total capacity of Waveform Technology’s 400 route mile network is over 1,600 gigabits per second.

The network improvements substantially increase the amount of available bandwidth in southeast Michigan, make high capacity Metro Ethernet circuits more affordable, and provide for additional Type-1 carrier options to customers in Waveform Technology’s carrier neutral Troy data center.

The new bandwidth is available thanks to new construction and upgrades, including increased use of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing. Fiber construction was completed despite harsh winter weather.

“This project demonstrates our continued commitment to investing in our local economy. We want to make sure that Michigan companies have access to both the Internet and private network bandwidth that they need to prosper in the new ’2.0 economy,’” said Waveform Technology spokesman Noel Montales. “We hope that affordable Internet bandwidth will also encourage out-of-state information technology companies to call Michigan their home.”

Among the benefits of the expanded network capacity is the increased availability of Metro Ethernet circuits in southeast Michigan.

The completion of this fiber build is one of a series of construction projects currently under way at Waveform Technology. Waveform’s goal is to improve bandwidth options throughout Metro Detroit for the benefit of Michigan technology companies.
