Hazel Park Police Hunt Craigslist Killer

HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - Authorities are still searching for a murderer who police say found his victim on Craigslist.

No arrests have been made, but police are using cell phone records to track down the gunman who shot and killed 19-year old Johnathan Clements in front of his Hazel Park home this week.

Investigators say Clements was looking to buy a cell phone for $95 when he connected with his killer on the popular classifieds website.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Stephanie Davis spoke Friday with Michael Clements, Johnathan's older brother.

"He wanted to be sportscaster -- real big into sports; a lovable person, like a big teddy bear," Clements said.

A candlelight vigil is planned in Romeo for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Kmart Plaza on 31 mile and Van Dyke at the Big Rock. Funeral services are set for Monday.

Family members have set up a memorial fund through TCF Bank to help cover burial costs.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Hazel Park Police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-SpeakUp.
