Union Plans State Budget Protest

LANSING (WWJ) – Protests are already being planned to oppose Michigan Governor Rick Snyder’s budget plan and plans for emergency financial managers.

The Michigan AFL-CIO says it will be gathering members in Lansing next Tuesday to “send a strong message to state legislators against their anti-union, anti-democratic emergency manager bills.”

The union says the propsed state budget will place cities and schools in emergency situations and emergency financial managers will be used to “wipe out” all collective bargaining and remove locally elected officials.”

The public is invited to attend the gathering, Tuesday February 22, at 9 a.m. The group will meet at Central United Methodist Church 215 N. Capitol (Corner of Ottawa & Capitol).

Speaking live, Friday morning, on WWJ Newsradio 950, Gov. Snyder defended his budget plan. (More at this link).

Naturally the AFL-CIO with its communist President, Richard Trumpka will protest because they have proven they are the “greedy” ones. As a retired auto worker I support the debt reduction plan by the governor as long as it is fair and it seems to be just that. Being fair with the plan should over take Greed, except for the AFL-CIO and the left wing loonies. We are better than Wisconsin and we can prove it. Our previous Governor just kicked the can down the strret, leaving this huge debt for the next adminstration. Well……it now faces all of us and we have to deal with it.

I disagree with TaterSalad and all those out there that blame the current budget mess on Granholm – typical – don’t you remember that Granholm was fighting Bishop and Dillon tooth and nail? And stop passing the buck – Snyder blames Granholm who blamed Engler who blamed Blanchard. Yada Yada Yada. Why do you think Snyder is not heavily taxing Big Corporations? Because he was the CEO of Amway. The big budget mess we are now in was caused by outsourcing, the Wall Street mess, GM and Chrysler filing for bankruptcy, Corporate and Individual (Kwame) greed, and the housing and mortgage meltdown.

  3. John says:

Whoops – correction – Snyder was the CEO of Gateway, not Amway – sorry.

Too tired of seeing kids and the elderly getting the shaft, takes “One Tuff Nerd” to cut funding that effects our children and Grandparents. I will be there Tue. 22nd. Just another “Left Wing Loonie” (Come on Communist President). Really, tatersalad. sounds like mashed potatos

A 60 year old woman was assaulted, choked and beaten at my auto plant after reporting being harassed several times by an outsourced employee. Then she was FIRED for “fighting”. The UAW got her job back. She lost thousands of dollars in pay and had to pay hospital bills. And now Gov. Snidely Whiplash wants to take money out of her pocket and give it to the employer. Really, Snidely??? I mean, REALLY?
