Car Deals Revving Up For Presidents Day

DETROIT (WWJ) - Presidents Day is generally seen as a good day to shop for a car and as WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert tells us, there are more deals than normal this year.

"We lost eight percent of dealers in 2009 and another 4.4 percent last year," says Randy Berlin of the consulting firm Urban Science, allowing the remaining dealers to sell more cars each. "We are seeing some very, very positive increases for those dealers both in profitability and volumes," Berlin says.

Berlin says car companies are going to push dealers into making more investments both in their physical facilities and their online presence, anywhere they touch customers.

The deals are not necessarily on old cars, the people at Edmunds.com tell us Chrysler is offering 'no and low interest' financing or $750 cash back.

Honda has deals on a number of vehicles including the Pilot, Accord and Civics. In fact, the Civic is going less than invoice because they are going for less than invoice-because they are clearing out inventory to make room for new ones.

Some of the best deals of all are on Cadillacs the DTS and the STS with up to $7000 dollars cash back.
