    1. KB says:

There are many other Molossers out there that a “pit bull” cannot hold a candle to in terms of aggression and killing ability of people. They just are not as popular and are much more expensive. The the breeders also do interviews before letting their dogs go home with a new owner to prevent such accidents and to prevent the breeds from being maligned, as “pit bulls” are, to the ingorant general public. There are no breed of dogs that cannot kill a 10-day old baby, even a tea-cup chihuahua is capable and to be honest if given access to the infant, probably more probable. I have incountered many more of agressive chihuahuas than the Molosser breeds. It is the owners/trainers that give any breed the oppotunitues to kill as well as thier “bad” name. Please be logical people. Educate yourselves. Just because a local government does something, like banning a breed, does not make them right – and you know this

Hey KB, I have a few doubts…I dont understand why pit bull fanatics like yourself see it neccessary to troll/harass people who voice their honest opinions. As voltaire said”I may disagree with your opinion, but I will defend to the death your right to say it “Secondly,to us citizens, pitbull lovers keep giving advice like its not the breed etc..but isnt it people in YOUR community who need advice on how to raise their pitbulls properly ??..accusing/harassing a dogbite victim is like telling a rape victim she is responsible for it…why should you lecture us citizens when we have NOTHING to do with pitbulls in the first place ?? educate your community instead of insulting innocent dogbite victims who just want to share their grief…

Do not blame a breed. FYI there is no breed classified as “pit bull”. That is dogism. Individual dogs have personalities just the same as humans, There is no information as to the age and social nature of the dog, whether it was left hungry and not fed, why the dog would have had access to the baby without adult supervision, etc. Tragic but preventable. A case of owner error?

    1. Mr.Chubs says:

Sally, this has nothing to do with the Dog matter — but I would bet the farm that you are a liberal, yes? We hear this every few weeks — Oh it’s not the dog. But I can’t help but wonder how many fatalities a poodle has caused — we all know they nip everyone. Or one of those Labradoodles — I bet them wipe people out all the time and circle their prey when someones riding down the street. Well no, it’s pretty much limited to pit-bulls and the breed. Stupd people let their dogs freeze to death, get run over by cars, and forget to feed them and never walk them — but it’s stil the pit-bull at front and center for thrashing people. So what you have arrived at is since pit-bulls kill the most people — that stupid people specifically own pitbulls, and since other dog’s dont kill people — then smart people own dogs other than pit bulls — How irrational is that? And to propose that if the dog didn’t have food — that it might be tempted to eat the baby? If I leave the dog unattended ( unsupervised according to you ), he is a liability? So at what point in the dogs training, is the dog discouraged from executing someone when he is left alone. I would think a docile breed would just chew his toy and not someones scalp. It’s not the breed… ya right. The only other time youy hear these stories is when someone is in the pool with a killer whale or a bengal tiger. When you jump off a 6 story building and break your leg — what went wrong… The ground wasn’t soft enough, or the impact was too great? or you didn’t wear enough protective gear — what’s the best way to jump? The real question is, why would you jump at all!

My sister has a pit bull mix and it attacked their 7 month old baby 2 weeks ago. Thank God my father was right next to the baby and pulled the dog off FAST.. NO WARNING .. NO AGGRESSION TOWARDS PEOPLE EVER. We are blessed in that he only has four teeth marks. That dog will never be around the baby ever again. Not in the same house ever.
very loving dog… blah, blah , blah.. Facts are facts.. 70% of dog attacks that result in fatalaties are pitt bulls… She was brought up in the most loving home their was. She would have chewed that baby’s head off. He mouth was open wide … 2 teeth on the forhead and 2 on thelower cheek….
IS IT WORTH IT? IT IS THE BREED. PITBULLS ARE VICIOUS! PITBILL MIXES ARE VICIOUS!!! GET A GRIP.

      1. Justin Ward says:

Irene sorry what happend to your sisters kid but pitbulls are not vicious, most pitbull attacks come from people that mistreat there dogs leaving them chained up all day and night, left outside in the cold or hot weather, never socialized with other dogs or around people. There are 100 other breed dogs that bite and even kill people every year more then pitbulls do. Be real you had no problem with that dog b4 this happend, the fact is that if that was a lab it would have done just as much damage and the baby as the mixed dog did. You cant say that just because it has some pitbull in it that thats why it attacked the baby. I have a pure breed pitbull that i can walk off the leash and my 2 brothers kids all under 4 all play with my dog and they even pull on his ears and tail and has never nipped or ever shown teeth at them. Its not the breed its the people who own them with no clue how to train a dog. DO GET A DOG IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO TRAIN THIEM. DOG WHISPERER

    3. Rpo Desi says:

Actually that is not a full breeded pit anyways when you cross breed like that you never know what your going to get !

  3. Jille says:

Sally, are you kidding? There are pit bulls and they are banned in most condominium and trailer park communities because tragedies like this one happen all too often. But don’t take my word for it. Google “pit bull” and “mauling” or “pit bull” and “death”. It’s a real eye-opener. Dogism. Hilarious.

    1. Justin Ward says:

Jille the reason there banned in most trailer parks is because most people that live in trailer parks can bearly take care of themselfs. How often do you see dogs of all breeds just running loose in the trailer parks. If i left you outside all day 24/7 and never did anything but keep you on a leash and never walk you or spend time with you, and i just gave you some food and changed your water every 6 days how aggressive would you be. Pitbulls are rated in the top 10 for best family pets look it up, thats because the score in the top 5% in temperment, and obedience. You never had a pitbull before, why dont you do your do dillagence and go to your local pet store and read a book on pitbulls and you will see for yourself that they one of the best dogs you can have period. I can Google anything out there and there will be something negative about it. If we ban pitbulls then we should ban white men for killing there wifes without warning, white women for killing there kids for no reason and white kids for shooting up there schools. Sounds stupid doesnt it and so does everyone on here that has no clue about pitbulls and how wonder they really are.

  4. appleman says:

And i bet you anything the dog was left unsupervised with that baby and that is why it Happened
Stop banging on about the Breed do you know how many other Breeds of dogs Kill and are not published had that been any other breed of dog it probably would not of even made the news

    1. Susan says:

I agree with you, also about 10 years ago the chow use to get a bad rap. I once had a dog that was a mixed breed, no part of a bull terrier and it was meaner than you could imagine even though it was brought up in a loving home. I just think whenever something happens involving a bull terrier they plaster all over the media. Just saying . . . .

    2. Irene says:

Actually , if you had read the paragragh… you would have read that my Dad was sitting with the baby reading him a book. The dog flipped the baby onto his back and would have chewed his head off if my dad werent in top physical shape and has quick reflexes. (he’s a NYC fireman) Most people would not have been able to grab the dog…. so even a supervised pitbull / baby combo is a huge risk. The nanny would never have been able to do it. And this dog isn’t even a full pitbull. If she had been a full pitbull the baby would be dead now. Thank God we were given a second chance. The dog was raised in an extraordinarily loving home. Never a problem. We are so lucky to be given a second chance. I really wish there was a way to warn people without people like you in denial. You continue this myth of “its the upbringing … not the breed” and you only contribute to people being kept in the dark about the truth.

      1. Justin Ward says:

Irene the problem there is that you cant raise a dog like a person and just give it love. Im sure if we looked at how much control your sister had over the dog we would see that she probably lets the dog pull her down the street when she walks it, and we would see that the dog is up on all the couches and pretty much is the pack leader of the house. If no one in the house is the pack leader then the dog will take over as alpha male or female and control and dominate the house hold. All dogs give warning signs and its not always a growl or them showing teeth, you need to watch the DOG WHISPERER, most of his dogs that he has in his pack are pitbulls some of them where fighting dogs that he saved, and he uses them to train other peoples dogs on how to become balanced and well behavied.

      2. Gina says:

Irene you give the reason this dog acted viciously without provocation….”it wasn’t even a full pit bull”….MANY of those “pit bulls” who snap without reason are in fact MIXED….full blooded pit bulls, while a powerful breed that DO require responsible ownership would NOT behave this way…..your sister was irresponsible by not educatiing herself about the breed….the responsibility lies on your sister NOT the breed!!!!!

    3. Mindy says:

EXACTLY! If these stories are going to be on the news, we should get to hear the whole story. I am a Proud Owner of an American Pit Bull! I have a 10 year old daughter and my dog is so loving and tolerant while playing, and neighborhood kids are always around and i have not had any problems. I am a responsible pet owner, my dog has her shots and is registered and microchipped.
I just don’t believe that there isn’t more to these stories than what’s being reported. My sister had a german shepard that bit people constantly and even killed a few of the neighbors farm animals, and guess what?? that was never reported. If it would have been a pit bull, Channel 41 news would have been live on the scene!

      1. Justin Ward says:

Well said Mindy i to am a proud owner of a 3yr old American Pit Bull also and he is the best dog ever. I LOVE MY PITBULL

    4. Brenda Gerry says:

No, and neither do you or you would have told us.

    5. Justin Ward says:

I agree 1000% with you. Its not the breed its the owner of the dogs. I wouldnt leave my new born alone any dog big or small. Cats kill babys every year also so where’s the banned on them. The problem is that people get dogs that they cant handle themselfs. They let the dog pull them the whole time there on a walk instead of having the dog by your side. They get the dog because they want a strong breed dog but have no clue how to raise them.

      1. c deal says:

What! Cats. Every year. Name them.

  5. Monkeyman says:

Oh lovely, the media once again uses a stock photo of an abused and neglected “pit bull”. I am surprised they didn’t use one snarling.

  6. Dd says:

What’s “hilarious” is how ignorant some people are, yet they swear up and down they know what they are talking about. SCIENCE says the breed is NOT to be blamed. So does COMMON SENSE.

  7. Brian says:

Wow! I’m really surprised to hear all these people defending Pit Bulls. Do you really believe that Pit Bulls are not designed (breed) to be killing machines? Just look at the shape of the head and jaw. Haven’t you ever seen or heard about how these animals will snap into a “kill” mode at unexpected times? Haven’t you figured out that the reason people select pit bulls for dog fighting is that they will grab hold of whatever they attack and not let go no matter how much pain they are subjected to? Please realize that you are projecting human emotions onto an animal. You are not thinking logically. Never! Never! let a pit bull near any human under the age of 14…supervised or not.

    1. Justin Ward says:

Brian that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. For someone that has never owned and pitbull how can you even speak and the matter. Pit bulls do not just snap into kill mode, any dog or human for that matter can snap when not trained properly. Why dont you try reading about them from a real pitbull book like the one’s you can buy in the pet store and learn the truth about them not just half a story you hear on the news.

    2. gina says:

Brian..excuse me, the “design” of these dogs was by GOD…and no, I don’t believe it was because they are or could be ‘killing machines’. It is PEOPLE who chose to fight them, using the breeds power inappropriately. Not to mention cross breeding and mixed bull dogs that increasingly weaken blood lines. Purebread Pit bulls are WONDERFUL dogs and only those ignorant of such facts believe the media hype about a breed that is as valuable to people as any other!

Ok people lets look at something here it it a 10 yr old bo or is it an infants that was killed?
A 10-day-old boy is dead after apparently being attacked by a family dog.

before judging the dog lets get all the facts.

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    the Temperament of a pit-bull
The APBT is a breed that is loyal to friends and family, and is generally friendly towards strangers. Many have strong instincts to chase and seize cats and other fleeing creatures, including deer and livestock (prey drive).[7] As with any dog breed, proper training and socialization at an early age is a must. According to the UKC, “aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable.”[8]

The American Temperament Testing Society shows a pass percentage of 86% for American Pit Bull Terriers.[9] American Pit Bull Terriers generally have a lot of energy and benefit from exercise and stimulation to channel their energy properly and avoid becoming frustrated, bored, or destructive.[10]

here is some info from the American Temperament Test Society, Inc.
how the following breed score all have bull baiting, and dog fighting history
    AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER 772 664 108 86.0%
    AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER 608 510 98 83.9%
    AMERICAN BULLDOG 178 151 27 84.8%
    STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER 115 103 12 89.6%
    CANE CORSO 96 79 17 82.3%
    BULL TERRIER 73 66 7 90.4%
    BULLDOG 134 94 40 70.1%

    1. Justin Ward says:

I love that you came with the facts about the pitbull. I wish you would have shown how high the pit scored compared to what people consider safe dogs.

  9. Amber McConkey says:

That is not as pitbull. way too big, doesn’t even have the body structure of a pit bull type dog

  10. jason says:

I hate those dogs with a passion , kill them all i say , they are the worst pet anyone could have , innocent people are attacked by pit bulls that escape the yard , My son was attacked by one , tore a lot of flesh from his leg , I have seen a neighbors little dog get attacked by one that dug a hole under a fence , the poor thing was mangled so bad , the vet could not save it , it was a little Jack Russel terrier, its belly was eaten out , dont tell me its the owners ,( stinkin dogs ) the worst dog ever , but Micheal Vick sure liked them , and if i were NFL commisioner he would not be playing.

  11. karen says:

my chihuahia mix is my pits boss jason its people like you who expand the myth about pits this was a tragi event and i pray for the family but it could have been any breed– and any breed could have bitten your child

    1. CommonSense says:

but it wasn’t any other breed you bunch of morons.

  12. Lelah says:

In response to CommonSense’s comment “but it wasn’t any breed you bunch of m*r*ns.”

When I was 8, my little daschund was attacked and killed by two German Shepherds. My dog was on a leash and the Shepherds were not. I ran home and got my parents. I was lucky the dogs didn’t follow and attack me but they were too engrossed in destroying my little dog. Let’s ban all German Shepherds since they are so vicious. After all, they have to be in order to be used as police dogs (sarcasm intended).

I don’t have anything against German Shepherds (though I did for over 20 years). I understand that it was those two dogs, not all German Shepherds. I have met many Shepherds that were friendly. I have also met many Pit Bulls that were friendly.

  13. GUEST2011 says:

When are people going to learn about pitbulls????? A new baby in the house MUST be introduced to ANY pet to get accustomed to the new baby. STUPID PARENTS.

  14. KB says:

  15. Mike F says:

everyone protecting pit bulls… they are killing people because they can, yes a chihuahua would be a beast if it was 80 lbs.. but it is not.. if you want to belive its all a problem with the owners, fine, but the issue of the dangers remain, people should not be allowed to have a truely deadly animal, especially out in public, just like in most states people cannot carry guns. Guns dont kill people either, but peopple do.. and with a dog there is even less controls.
