Auto Shop Tirade Caught On Tape

AETNA TWP. (WWJ/AP) - The Mecosta County Sheriff is working on an arrest warrant for a woman accused of using a baseball bat to smash up a Grand Rapids area collision shop.

Police say the woman was upset over the $225 towing bill for her car after she was involved in a snow-related multi-vehicle accident.

WXMI-TV was at Weeks Towing & Auto in Mecosta County's Aetna Township, about 38 miles northeast of Grand Rapids, on Monday doing a story on Sunday's U.S. 131 crash, and caught some of the argument on video.  The woman's child can be heard crying on tape, pleading with his mother to stop.

Charlie Weeks of Weeks Towing and Auto  told The Grand Rapids Press the 34-year-old smashed equipment including a computer, fax machine and coffee pot. The sheriff's department said damage is estimated at more than $5,000.
