DETROIT (WWJ) - A few hundred people rallied at Triumph Church in Detroit today voicing their opposition to an attempted takeover of Detroit’s water and pension boards. Many people held signs which read, ‘Hands off our pension and water’.
Irma Clark-Coleman formerly a member of the Michigan Senate says she knew they were in trouble when Republicans took over the state.
”They are trying to run stuff through that legislation that will disband everything we have fought years to accomplish. Collective bargaining – they want to take away that. They want to take away our pensions,” Clark-Coleman says.
Clark-Coleman urged everyone to contact state legislators to oppose these types of moves.
