Calling All Past And Present Girl Scouts

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Girl Scouts are now searching for all women who were Girl Scouts for the last 99 years. The Girl Scouts are developing a comprehensive list for their archives - to list and highlight during their 100th celebration.

The Girl Scouts are about to kick off a year-long celebration of the centennial of Girl Scouting (March 12, 2011 to March 12, 2012).

Current Girl Scouts in the Ann Arbor Region now have the chance to become Alumnae Sleuths, interviewing former Girl Scouts in their communities.  Girls will learn what life was like for Girl Scouts in each decade of the last century and how the values of Girl Scouting have endured over the years.  A special patch program, called Windows On the Past, will debut on March 12, 2011.

Each month, girls will replicate activities that Girl Scouts did during one of the ten decades of Girl Scouting, from 1912 to the present.

So if you were you a Girl Scout, a Brownie Girl Scout, a Junior Girl Scout or higher, or you earned the highest honor bestowed on Girl Scouts of the past and current?  The Scouts want to hear from you.

You can  call Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan at 1-800-49-SCOUT or email alumnae@gshom.org and tell them your Girl Scout story.
